Aircraft lessors scramble to repossess Go First aircraft
Aircraft lessors are queueing up to seek repossession of planes operated by troubled airline Go First.
Regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it received lessors’ requests to deregister 45 aircraft.
It is in airline bankruptcy protection proceedings, and has grounded about half of these due to ongoing engine issues with manufacturer Pratt & Whitley.
The airline blames its financial woes on the engine issue.
Go first has a fleet of 55 aircraft.
The lessors want agreement on repossession before a decision on the insolvency application is made.
That decision could come later today.
