Air Canada has rolled out the first phase of its online bidding tool for seat upgrades.
The programme allows passengers with confirmed seats in economy or premium economy to make an offer for an upgrade up to 96 hours before departure.
Bidding is available on select flights operated by Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge.
Set minimum and maximum amounts are displayed on the upgrade bid website, with a sliding scale showing the likelihood of the bid being successful.
Customers who booked their ticket direct via the Air Canada website, Air Canada’s mobile website or a call centre will be emailed with an invite to make an offer 10 days prior to departure. Others can make a bid by visiting the bid website.
Successful bidders will be notified two days before departure.
The upgrade bidding program will be expanded across the network by the summer, the airline said.
