A&K launches five star Yangzi Explorer
LONDON – Abercrombie & Kent will launch The Yangzi Explorer – the only internationally managed five-star cruise ship to sail on the Yangzi River – on July 6.
The vessel accommodates 124 passengers. All suites and cabins feature private balconies with panoramic views of the surrounding scenery.
Shore excursions offer an insight into the heritage of the area with tailored itineraries to avoid the crowds, accompanied at all times by a qualified guide.
With 64 regularly scheduled departures from July through to December, guests can choose to sail for four nights/five days upstream to Chongqing or for three nights/four days downstream to Yichang.
A range of activities are offered on board such as Tai Chi, Chinese brush painting and local cultural performances as well as a cinema and multi-language library.
A non-smoking policy is operated throughout all internal areas of the boat as well as a no mobile phone policy throughout the public areas for guaranteed relaxation.
The Yangzi Explorer will also be the most environmentally friendly ship sailing the Yangzi River at this time. It features a specially installed sewage disposal system, recycling facilities and other measures to ensure the ship is energy efficient.
Accommodation comprises 62 cabins including one Celestial Suite, one Imperial Suite, one Jade Suite, one Mandarin Suite, 20 standard suites and 38 deluxe cabins.
All are fully air-conditioned with private bathrooms, satellite television and in-house movies.
There is also a 600m² spa on board with a fitness centre, beauty salon, sauna and six treatment rooms.
In addition, The Yangzi Explorer has two private dining rooms, an international restaurant serving Chinese and Western dishes, a viewing lounge and a cigar bar. In-room dining and limited internet access are also available.
