Alaska regional airline Kenai Aviation has abruptly ceased all flight operations.
It says it is unable to continue due to financial insolvency.
The airline operated scheduled services and charter flights in south central Alaska and to Unalakleet.
Owner Joel Caldwell posted a message online informing customers it is shutting down.
It blames a ‘debt load that we haven’t been able to get back on top of’ since the Covid pandemic, wrote in the statement.
“Today, the bank is calling that debt. We have to cease all operations immediately. I am devastated.”
Kenai Aviation has been operating for more than 60 years.
Caldwell, a former Alaska Airlines pilot, bought the airline just a year before the pandemic.
