A Las Vegas bound Allegiant Air jet skidded off a taxiway at Wichita Airport resulting in the evacuation of 161 passengers and six crew members.
All exited without injury after the plane came off the tarmac late Sunday due to adverse weather, airport officials said.
‘As it began taxiing, weather conditions worsened significantly, and wind combined with freezing rain’ caused the mishap, a statement from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport said.
The late night flight was cancelled and passengers were put up in local hotels with a $100 credit for future flights.
Allegiant Flight 405 finally took off for Las Vegas the following evening without incident.
