AlUla Development Company (UDC), a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, today announced the start of construction on NUMAJ, Autograph Collection, marking a key milestone in the continued transformation of AlUla.
The milestone was celebrated during a site visit attended by John Pagano, CEO of UDC, and Abeer AlAkel, CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), along with other senior leadership representatives.

John Pagano, CEO of UDC, said: “NUMAJ marks a clear step forward in our delivery timeline. As we begin construction, our priority is to deliver high-quality, investment-ready developments that strengthen AlUla’s positioning, while shaping distinctive hospitality experiences that enhance its long-term appeal as a global destination and vibrant community.”
NUMAJ, a 250-room hotel scheduled to open in 2027, is being developed by AlUla Development Company and will be operated by Marriott International under the Autograph Collection Hotels brand. Designed by GioForma, the architectural firm behind the iconic Maraya Concert Hall, the project draws inspiration from AlUla’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and celestial history.
The name “NUMAJ” comes from the Nu Ursae Majoris star system, historically linked to AlUla as a guiding landmark for ancient travelers. This narrative is reflected in a design concept rooted in discovery, light, and a deep connection to the land.
The resort will offer a tailored hospitality experience, blending refined lifestyle elements with cultural and immersive touches. Guests will enjoy thoughtfully designed spaces that reflect AlUla’s identity, along with a range of amenities including five dining venues, wellness facilities, and integrated offerings for both business and leisure travelers.
Built with sustainability at the core of its strategy, NUMAJ is targeting LEED Gold certification by incorporating eco-friendly practices such as gray water reuse for irrigation, locally sourced materials, UV-resistant glazing, water-efficient landscaping, and low-energy lighting aligned with AlUla’s Dark Sky policy.
NUMAJ joins UDC’s growing portfolio of projects aimed at positioning AlUla as a leading global destination for travel, living, and investment. Through these developments, UDC is supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by advancing sustainable tourism, unlocking new investment opportunities, and driving economic diversification.
