Amadeus hails “solid” 2004 financial performance
Amadeus saw net profits rise by almost 30% to 208 million euros last year over 2003.
The GDS exceeded 2 billion euros in revenue for the first time last year, according to financial results released today.
Overall bookings were up by 7.6% to 454.1 million, with online bookings up by 53% to 42.7 million to represent more than 10% of total bookings volume.
Amadeus saw non-air bookings rise by 5.4% with a 65.2% increase in cruise bookings and an 11.2% rise in hotel bookings. The total number of air bookings was up by 6.8% to 380,550.
Total booking revenue rose by 5.4% with other revenue, including IT services and e-commerce, was up by 10.5%.
Amadeus president and CEO Jose Antonio Tazon said: “Overall, our focus on minimising costs and maximising the value of our services to our diversifying customer base has led us to deliver a solid financial performance for the year 2004.”
Results for the fourth quarter of 2004 were impacted by the consolidation of newly acquired subsidiary Opodo’s financial results. Operating income of 39.9 million euros was 41% down over the same quarter in 2003.
