American Airlines and US Airways sign non-disclosure
US Airways and American Airlines parent corporation AMR have signed a non-disclosure agreement, seen as another major step bringing the two closer to a merger.
The non-disclosure agreement means that the two corporations will be able to exchange internal information about the possible merger under the radar of the media and other organizations.
US Airways’ CEO Doug Parker sent an internal memo to employees that said the agreement would remain in place until a deal was brokered or the two decide not to marry after all.
"As a result, we will not be able to be as open and candid about the discussions with American as we usually are about issues that are important to all of us," Parker told his employees.
Experts see the merger as almost a done deal, with the combined AA/US Airways overseas and domestic strength muscling in on United’s big-boy-on-the-block status.
