American Airlines appoints new VP of Miami operations

American Airlines has appointed Ralph Lopez as vice president of the airline’s operations in Miami.
It marks a promotion for Lopez who most recently managing director of London Heathrow operations for AA.
Ralph is a tremendous leader who has an impressive track record of leading teams that deliver strong operational performance," said Kerry Philipovitch, senior vice president, customer experience.
In addition, he has had extensive experience with our operations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. Given our Miami hub’s link to that region of the world, he is the ideal person to support our 11,000-plus Miami-based team members."
Lopez has been with American for more than 20 years and will replace Marilyn DeVoe who is retiring later in the year after nearly 40 years with the carrier.
DeVoe has been operations chief at the Miami hub since 2010.
