American Airlines will begin daily flights linking Phoenix and Sante Fe from December.
Starting December 15, it is American’s second route from the airport.
It also flies to Dallas from Santa Fe Municipal Airport.
Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales has welcomed the service saying the Phoenix opens up a wealth of connections to dozens of cities for Santa Fe travelers.
He described it as ‘a very good signal that this will be a smart destination spot.’
Mayor Gonzales has made it a priority to attract more traffic to the underserved airport after American discontinued its Santa Fe-Los Angeles route a year ago.
The only other airline serving the airport is United Airlines, which flies to Denver.
