American Cruise Lines doubles capacity in Pacific Northwest
American Cruise Lines plans to double up in the Pacific Northwest with the addition of a second paddle wheeler in early 2016.
The 150-passenger ship Queen of the Mississippi will be renamed to reflect its new role, and deployed on the Columbia and Snake Rivers alongside the Queen of the West.
It will feature the largest staterooms on the rivers, all with private balconies, the line said.
American Cruise Lines operates week-long sailings between Portland, OR and Clarkston, WA.
The line’s brand new riverboat America, due to launch this week, will replace it on the Mississippi.
A second new ship under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding will take over the Queen of the Mississippi name when floated out.
ACL says the extra deployment is a direct result of rising demand on the Columbia, and will more than double capacity.
