American Jazz river ship freed after nine days aground
American Cruise Lines’ American Jazz was finally freed more than a week after running aground on a lake in Kentucky. It was freed from a sandbar in Lake Barkley after being stuck for nine days.
The vessel had been carrying 120 passengers and 54 crew members. It was on a scheduled ‘8-Day Music Cities’ cruise between Memphis and Nashville.
The U.S. Coast Guard assisted with rescue efforts. The line said the ship hull was not damaged.
