American Airlines is adding a new city to its already extensive route network in Mexico with flights to Merida.
American will fly to the Yucatan Peninsula’s largest city from Dallas Fort Worth five times a week from March 3.
Still subject to regulatory approval, the route will be operated by Airbus A319 aircraft.
"The addition of Merida gives our customers 21 destinations in Mexico, and we’ll now operate nearly 120 daily flights between our two countries," said Art Torno, American’s senior vice president – international and cargo.
"American was the first international airline to fly to Mexico in 1942 and we’ve been one of the leading international carriers in the country ever since."
The new route goes live for bookings on October 4, American said.
