Research shows Americans are committed to international travel even during difficult times

The number of Americans saying they will vacation overseas—in the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia—within the next two years is higher today than it was prior to the start of the current economic downturn, according to a recent study by Menlo Consulting Group, Inc. “The strength of the U.S. dollar, an abundance of travel deals, and the fact that international travelers tend to be upscale and less affected by the poor economy are all contributing to this positive scenario,” said Heather Hardwick Rhodes, MCG Vice President.

Conducted in April 2009, the survey was fielded among a representative sample of 60,000 U.S. households. This research is part of Menlo Consulting Group’s TravelStyles® USA research program.
