Amex’s Coles joins business travel rival
Alan Coles has left American Express to take up the post of managing director at rival travel management firm P&O Travel.
His appointment follows the departure of Tony Hughes who left the company to join global business travel firm Radius as president.
Mr Coles, who takes up his new post on Monday (August 12) will report to P&O Travel chairman Gwyn Hughes, with a brief to grow the company which is a division of P&O Princess Cruises.
Gwyn Hughes commented: ‘We are delighted to strengthen the P&O Travel management team by appointing such a highly talented and respected industry figure. Alan brings a wealth of experience that will be immeasurably valuable in taking the company into its next phase of development.’
The company’s travel management division, P&O Business Travel, has nine offices in the UK. Other divisions include marine travel and conferences and incentives.
Mr Coles has been with American Express for 14 years, most recently as V-P Head of Travel Service Network – Europe and Previously he has also worked for British Airways and Thomson Holidays.
P&O Travel acting managing director Martin Lloyd continues in his role as finance and systems IT director, and will also be Mr Coles’ deputy.
