Another airport scraps 100ml liquid rule

A third UK airport has scrapped the hand baggage liquid rule head of this summer’s deadline.

Aberdeen International Airport has introduced the new CT scanners which scan using high-res 3D images, allowing a larger volume of liquids to stay in bags.

Aberdeen joins Teesside and London City in moving over to the new scanners and ditching the 100ml liquid rule.

Other airports are expected to follow before the summer however several large airport hubs have signalled they will miss the June 2024 deadline.

London Heathrow has over 100 new machines to install.

London Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester airports said they will also not be fully compliant by summer 2024.

Gatwick said it wouldn’t complete its full CT scanner roll out until at least early 2025.
