The spate of theme park ride accidents continued Thursday with the fourth serious mishap in the past five days.
A three-year old child was airlifted to hospital after from a roller coaster at Idlewild and SoakZone amusement park in Ligonier.
Local police and state inspectors are continuing an investigation as this latest incident has increased calls for more oversight of thrill rides at parks around the country.
The Rollo Coaster ride has been in operation since 1938 and remains closed while investigators probe the cause.
Park spokesman Jeff Croushore said the child was conscious following the accident although the extent of his injuries have not yet been disclosed.
Croushore said all rides at the park are inspected daily.
It comes just days after a 10-year boy was reportedly decapitated at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City.
Schlitterbahn bills the ride as the tallest water slide in the world.
In other incidents this week three children fell from a Ferris wheel in Greeneville, Tennessee during a county fair.
Two people also suffered minor injuries on the Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.
