Appeals court blocks CDC cruise ship restrictions

The Florida-CDC cruise legal battle continues to to and fro.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta voted 2 – 1 not to extend a lower court decision to block an injunction to the CDC’s conditional sailing order.

The state filed an emergency petition as it said any more delays and legal wrangling will lead to another lost summer.

It means the CDC’s conditional sailing order is not enforceable during the course of legal action although various safety and hygiene protocols still need to be followed on all shps.

The conditional sail order ‘represents the most effective way of continuing to protect the public’s health,’ the CDC said.

The ruling declined to extend the temporary stay of an injunction to the CSO, first filed by Florida, although it may be all for nothing.

The CDC said it will enforce its federal mask mandate if any cruise line does not follow the rules in the CSO.
