Asia Pacific airline alliance established
Eight low cost Asia Pacific carriers this week unveiled the line-up of the world’s largest LCC alliance, called the Value Alliance.
Cebu Pacific, Jeju Air, Nok Air, NokScoot, Scoot, Tigerair Singapore, Tigerair Australia and Vanilla Air are the founding members and aim to offer more value, seamlessly connectivity and choice for travellers in Asia and Australia.
It has teamed up with tech provider Air Black Box to offer through ticketing and relevant ancillary products in a single transaction from each of the member websites.
"We are extremely excited by the opportunities this partnership presents to our guests. The Value Alliance partners are leaders in their respective territories, having forged loyal followings by providing value, service and commitment to their home markets. By working together we can offer our guests a wider choice of destinations and flights – at the most competitive airfares – all in one go," said Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson.
Combined, the airlines serve more than 160 destinations with a fleet of 176 jets.
"The opportunity enabled by ABB and the Value Alliance to offer ancillary products through interline channels is a significant benefit over other partnerships, given LCCs typically earn 10-25 percent of their revenues from such items.," said Patee Sarasin, CEO of Nok Air.
Scoot, Nok Air and NokScoot fares are already integrated within the ABB-powered system with the other alliance members being added in the coming months.
Last year the eight carriers served 47 million air travellers throughout the Asia Pacific region.
