ASTA brings 800 travel agents, and one Clinton, to Miami
Travel agents are making their presence felt in Miami this week as ASTA (the American Society of Travel Agents) holds it Global Convention, bringing about 800 travel professionals and one high-profile keynote speaker, Hillary Clinton, to town.
The group kicked off the show by electing John I. Lovell, CTC, of Breton Village Travel Services, as its new chairman of the board, and Roger Block, CTC, of Travel Leaders Franchise Group, as vice-chairman.
Lovell, a second-generation retail travel agency owner, has been in the industry all his life, and has been a member of ASTA for 20 years.
ASTA last met in Miami in 2003, and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau is happy to show off what’s new.
On the itinerary are a golf outing, cruise ship tours, and visits to Little Havana and South Miami-Dade.
The convention is being held at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Hillary Clinton will speak on Thursday.
