Atlantis, Paradise Island has alerted customers to a recent data breach, saying some payment information may be compromised.
Specifically, the resort has warned customers to monitor their accounts who used their debit or credit cards at food and beverage and retail outlets between November 1, 2016 and April 3, 2017.
The breach has now been rectified and did not affect payments for hotel reservations or purchases charged to their room bill.
It discovered the breach on May 10, 2017 and has since been working with third-party forensic investigators.
The malware attack on PoS systems ‘may have captured data from some credit and debit cards used,’ it said.
Data at risk includes the card number, expiration date and CVV security code.
Customer names or PIN numbers were not compromised.
"We continue to work with third-party forensic investigators to ensure the security of our systems on behalf of our customers and would like to take this opportunity to remind customers to remain vigilant against fraud by reviewing their financial account statements regularly," said Howard C. Karawan, president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island.
"The resort takes the security of our customers’ information extremely seriously, and we apologize for the inconvenience this incident may have caused our customers."
The data breach does not seem to be tied to the one which infected Sabre’s SynXis hotel reservations system.
In that months long cyberattack, numerous hotel chains were affected including Hard Rock Hotels, Loews Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Rosewood Hotel Group and Trump Hotels.
