Aussie student travel operator ceases trading
Student travel specialist Antipodeans Abroad is the latest operator to bite the dust due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Liquidators were called in earlier this month as the company’s cash reserves were virtually zero.
The firm has been sending high school students and university groups on overseas trips for nearly 30 years.
It focuses on trips to India, Peru and Vietnam.
It normally has an annual turnover of about $40 million.
It is unclear how many customers are affected but media outlet 7 News puts it in the thousands.
According to Antipodeans Abroad founder Lachlan Bunn, the pandemic dealt a ‘fatal blow’ to the company.
The company has been in dispute with its insurer over trip cancellation cover.
