Australia eyes UK, US travel bubbles when it reaches vaccination target
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said travel bubbles with the UK and US could be on the cards when 80% of Australians are fully vaccinated. Singapore and Japan are other markets which could see travel bubbles introduced when it gets to herd immunity, Tehan told federal parliament.
So far, about 30% of eligible Australians have been fully vaccinated. Tehan said when the rate gets to 70% more travel curbs will be relaxed. Australia’s only travel bubble with New Zealand is currently paused due to lockdowns.
