Australia in ‘no hurry’ to open borders
Even though it has just welcomed the first Kiwi travellers under the two-way trans-Tasman travel bubble, Australia is in ‘no hurry’ to open its borders to other countries yet.
PM Scott Morrison says Australia will take a cautious approach and may start allowing foreign travellers in very gradually by the end of 2021.
"I will not be putting at risk the way we are living in this country which is so different to the rest of the world today," he said.
The priority now is to press ahead with mass vaccinations in order to allow vaccinated Australians to fly in and out of the country.
