Australian visitors drive Bali boom
DENPASAR – New airline services between Australia and Bali, complemented by hotel deals, have seen a surge in the number of Australian visitors to Bali.
Australians dominated the flow of foreign tourists to Bali during the seven-month period from January-July 2009.
Bali’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), quoted by the Anatara news agency, said the number of Australian visitors in the period was 225,170, an increase of 36.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
The number of Australian tourists accounted for 17.3 percent of the overall number of foreign tourists who visited Bali in that period, namely 1,304,359 or 12.26 percent, up from 1,161,915 the same period last year. 


Australia was the top source country for visitors to Bali followed by Japan, China, and Malaysia.
Last week Accor announced discounted and all-inclusive rates at participating Bali and Lombok hotels.
The offer includes breakfast, Internet access and return airport transfers, available at Novotel, Mercure and All Seasons hotels in Bali and Lombok.
Rates start at A$231 for three nights at the All Seasons Bali Legian to A$315 for three nights at the Novotel Bali Nusa Dua.
