BA appoints head of global sales
British Airways has appointed Mark Muren as head of global sales.
He will join later this year from United Airlines where he was managing director of global accounts.
At BA Muren will be part of the commercial team and will report to Andrew Brem, chief commercial officer.
He will be responsible for overseeing the airline’s relationships with agents, travel management companies and corporates.
"I’m incredibly excited to get started at British Airways. In its 100 years of operations, the airline has built a reputation for being a valued partner to the trade," said Muren.
"But I know there is work to do to strengthen these relationships, build new ones and increase the value for customers, our trade partners and British Airways. This will be an important focus in my role."
Brem added: "Mark is a thoughtful planner and an innovative problem-solver, and he’s a passionate advocate for his customers and his colleagues. Mark will be a brilliant addition to the commercial team, an asset to British Airways, and an invaluable partner to our trade customers."
The appointment comes as BA undertakes a five-year £6.5 billion investment plan, including the delivery of 73 new aircraft including A350 and 787s, a refurbishment of its long-haul fleet with new cabins, redesigned lounges, new dining across all cabins, and other on board improvements.
BA recently introduced a new business class seat with direct aisle access on its A350 aircraft, which will be rolled out across the long-haul fleet over the next few years.
