BA bans hover boards
British Airways has become the latest airline to ban popular hover boards from its flights.
The battery powered boards, which are set to become the number one gift this Christmas, are believed to represent a fire risk due to a lithium-ion battery, which is volatile at altitude.
BA has published the following statement on its website under banned sporting equipment: "In the light of press reports about potential fire risks associated with the lithium batteries used in hover boards, British Airways has conducted a review of the carriage of hover boards and other similar electrically powered vehicles. To ensure your safety on board our flights, British Airways has prohibited the carriage of these items in both hand baggage and checked baggage."
Other airlines to ban hover boards include Air France, Emirates and Etihad.
