BA cabin crew vote for industrial action
Cabin crew at British Airways have voted in favour of industrial action in a bid to force the airline to drop its new performance review system.
The ‘dashboard’ system provides onboard staff with immediate feedback on their performance from passengers and colleagues, gives league tables and shows a red warning light if an individual’s performance is rated as poor.
The union Unite says the dashboard scheme is flawed as individuals are blamed for situations that are not their fault.
Union members voted 91% in favour of industrial action short of a strike and means cabin crew will ‘decline to engage’ with the new performance management system, including refusing to sign off feedback forms.
BA said: "A similar system already exists for many crew. It allows us to offer our customers the very highest standards of service. We remain open to discussions with our cabin crew and their union representatives about this new system."
