BA reports growth in premium traffic

British Airways premium traffic climbed 15% in March while economy traffic fell 0.4%.

It led to an overall increase of 1.8% on March last year. Capacity meanwhile jumped 2.5% leading to a slight fall in load factor of 0.5% to 75.2%.

The strongest growth was in Asia Pacific where traffic increased 7.6% and in Africa and the Middle East where BA reported a rise of 5.9%.

UK and Europe and the Americas fell by 2.8% and 0.3% respectively. In the quarter to March, overall traffic jumped 2.9% 

Only the Americas increased load factors, by 0.3% with UK and Europe down 1.1%, Asia Pacific 1.4% and Africa and the Middle East 0.7%.
