BA reports weakness in shorthaul premium and longhaul economy
British Airways has reported that its shorthaul premium and longhaul non-premium traffic continues to show weakness.
But releasing its February figures today, the airline said long-haul premium traffic remains strong.
It is due to give a more detailed update on market conditions at its Investor Day tomorrow (March 6).
Passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, was 4.4% above February 2007, while traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, rose by 5.3%.
This pushed passenger load factor up by 0.6 points versus last year, to 68.4%.
Traffic comprised a 15.1% increase in premium traffic and a 3.4% rise in non-premium traffic.
BA said it was difficult to compare like with like because of the additional day in the month and the lingering effects of the threat of industrial action on the first few days of February 2007.
