Wednesday, 17 June 20093 min read

Staff at British Airways are being asked to work for nothing for a month.

The plea to more than 30,000 workers in the UK follows the airline posting a record loss of £401 million for the last financial year.

Chief executive Willie Walsh has already agreed for forgo his pay for July.

The appeal to staff comes as BA is expected to announce details of a large pay and productivity deal tomorrow (Wednesday) following talks with unions over how to save money, the BBC reported.

The latest plea to staff asks for volunteers by the end of the month to take between a week and a month of unpaid leave or unpaid work.

More than 1,000 applicants came forward last month when the airline asked staff to volunteer for a month’s unpaid leave, or to work for free for that time.
