The number of people travelling through BAA’s airports continued to fall last month.

Group wide traffic fell by 2.6 per cent, the same as in July and August. Passenger traffic at Heathrow remained fairly stable in the month, down 0.3 per cent, but load factors at the airport were up 4.3 percentage points.
Gatwick’s passenger numbers were down 0.5 per cent in the month but numbers at Edinburgh grew for the sixth month in a row, up 3.8 per cent. BAA’s seven UK airports handled 13 million passengers in September.
