Animal rights extremists have reportedly started a campaign against the airport operator BAA, attacking the home and vehicles of group finance director Margaret Ewing. According to the Sunday Times, property owned by five air transport executives was targeted; five houses were spray-painted and some 14 vehicles were vandalised. The website reports that graffiti on Ewing’s house read: “You are now a target for us; you will not win.” Ewing reportedly said: “They did some criminal damage, which was very upsetting, and my family are simply trying to get over what happened.” The Sunday Times reports that the protest group, called Gateway to Hell, has vowed to target BAA, Air France, Air Mauritius, and the Dover Port Authority on the basis that the organisations are involved with importing animals for research. Air Mauritius as denied being involved with the import of animals. BAA reportedly held a meeting with staff last week, and had altered its records at Companies House to remove the home addresses of directors. Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad
