Ban on liquids lifted

Thursday, 2 November 20063 min read

The government will lift the ban on liquids being taken through airport security starting on Monday.

Under the new rules, passengers will be allowed to carry drinks, cosmetics and toiletries through security checks.

But, they will be limited to 100ml per containers, which must be brought to the airport in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, which itself must not exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms).

Each passenger may carry only one bag of liquids and the bag must be presented for examination at the airport security point.

According to security experts, it’s not possible to destroy an aircraft with such small quantities of explosives disguised as a liquid.

The same rules are being introduced across all airports in Europe.
