An Uber driver trying to avoid authorities may have unwittingly caused a bomb scare at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport late last week.
Two mobile phones in a clear plastic bottle that were connected to a power bank charger were discarded near the Novotel airport hotel.
It was discovered by a jogger who alerted authorities.
Uber is illegal in Thailand and airport authorities have been known to track drivers through the Uber app who operate around the airport.
The road in front of the hotel was sealed off for about an hour while bomb disposal experts and sniffer dogs examined the package.
"I think the driver was trying to hide his telephone," Suvarnabhumi’s vice-president of security, Mr Kittipong Kittikachorn told the media.
The Uber application was open on one of the phones, he said.
"For sure it’s not a bomb. It’s not a fake bomb."
There are thought to be thousands of drivers signed up to Uber even though it is illegal.
