Bath Travel signs expanded Galileo deal
Bath Travel Group has extended a deal with Travelport GDS to cover the majority of the independent agency’s business.
The three-year agreement is for the latest Galileo desk top product.
Until now, Bath Travel’s use of Galileo was driven primarily by its business travel division.
The new deal extends across most divisions including its 70 leisure retail branches, air fares business, medical repatriation service and Australia-New Zealand operation.
But it excludes Bath Travel’s cruise business which will still be booked via Amadeus.
Joint managing director Stephen Bath said: “Our original agreement with Galileo had expired and so we decided to re-tender the GDS contract for the whole Bath Travel Group.
“The company is expanding rapidly and will continue to grow both organically and through carefully selected acquisitions. We needed to identify a strategic technology partner who would work closely with us in order to match that future growth.â€
Bath Travel staff will all be given training in order to maximise the full capacity of the latest Galileo and Travelport products and services.
“This is great news for our staff as the training will grow their skills and abilities,†said Bath. “It’s also good news for our customers who will benefit from a broader range of product options delivered more efficiently by Bath Travel consultants.â€
Travelport GDS, UK & Ireland general manager Patrick Lukan said: “It is important for us to be aligned with such a significant independent company as Bath Travel Group.
“This isn’t just about technology. We intend to work closely together with Bath Travel to develop a special business relationship as they move forwards and grow their operations further.â€
