Bermuda goes into lockdown

Bermuda has imposed a new lockdown after more than 100 suspected positive cases at the weekend. One of the positive cases is Bermuda Premier David Burt. He has no symptoms as he has already received a vaccination.

Bermuda will go into lockdown from today for at least seven days. The positive cases include five travelers who arrived on flights from the US.

"The rate of spread is far more advanced than believed and the regulations put in place have not been enough to slow it down. We must act now," Burt said.

The ‘stay at home’ protocols will see the closure of all non-essential businesses except grocery stores, gas stations, banks and pharmacies.
