Best air fares are eight weeks out says research

Monday, 23 August 20103 min read

Eight weeks out is the optimum time to buy an airline ticket in advance according to new research.

Economists Makoto Watanabe and Marc Moller have produced mathematical formulae to illustrate their findings which are the result of ongoing research into airline prices, the Observer reports.

They say they have also noted prices rising in the afternoon which they speculate is due to airlines’ assumptions that business travellers buy at work in the morning.
