It’s only a matter of time: most big US corporations will be switching to lower-cost, internet-based travel sellers.
So says Jeff Katz, CEO of Orbitz, quoted in USA Today.
He said increasingly large corporations are allowing employees to find their own travel deals on the internet.
“Senior travel industry executives and consultants here (Phoenix) last week for an annual conference sponsored by Phoenix Sky Harbor airport generally agreed, though some said substantial obstacles remain,” the newspaper said.
Those obstacles include tracking expenditures. As yet, there’s no technical standard that allows corporations to collect from internet travel agencies, hotels, airlines or rental-car companies data that corporations need to track spending, according to consultant Mike Mary.
