Black Prince is sold off

Tuesday, 07 May, 2009 0

Fred. Olsen’s cruise ship, Black Prince, is being sold off by its owning company, Black Prince Cruise Ltd.

The 451 passenger vessel has been bought by Servicios Acuaticos de Venezuela CA (SAVECA) through U S Shipbrokers of Florida, USA.

Delivery of Black Prince to SAVECA will take place shortly after its last cruise finishes in Southampton on October 16.

It is understood the vessel will be used as a cruise ship operating in Venezuelan waters.

Black Prince entered service for Fred. Olsen in October 1966, initially as a joint cruise ship and vehicle ferry between the UK and the Canary Islands, and the UK and Norway, and in recent years as a full time cruise ship from various regional UK ports to destinations in Europe, the Arctic, Africa, and the Caribbean.

The sale leaves Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines with four vessels: Black Watch, Boudicca, Braemar and Balmoral.
