Blount Small Ship Adventures shuts down
Blount Small Ship Adventures is closing down for good due to the Covid-19 impact on travel.
The family-run, Rhode Island based firm is selling its three ships and will cease all cruise operations.
It marks the demise of the first US based cruise line since the pandemic began.
It operated the 98-passenger Grande Mariner and 100-passenger Grande Carib, as well as the 76-passenger Niagara Prince.
The line sailed a range of coastal and inland itineraries such as the Great Lakes and in the Northeast.
Blount paused sailing in March when the pandemic took hold.
While it won’t resume cruising again, it will continue operating its boat building business, said Blount Boats’ President and Chief Financial Officer Marcia Blount.
