Bmi to go east

Monday, 07 Oct, 2004 0

Bmi is launching flights to India for the first time.

The UK’s second largest full-service scheduled airline hopes to launch flights from Heathrow to Mumbai and from Heathrow to Bangalore in March 2005.

It follows recent talks between the UK and Indian governments to allow extra flights between the countries. The airline is now waiting for the relevant approval from authorities in the UK.

Bmi chairman, Sir Michael Bishop has long campaigned for more longhaul slots from Heathrow and failed to secure them in the past. Currently all longhaul bmi services depart from Manchester to Chicago, Washington and Toronto, and later this year it will launch to Las Vegas, Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia.
