Bmi to roll out lie-flat seats
Bmi will install life-flat seats in business class cabins on all long-haul routes from June at a cost of £2 million.
The electronically-adjustable lie-flat seats, with an 80-inch seat pitch, will be rolled out across its entire fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft.
The ‘Perseus’ lie-flat seats are made by Italy-based Aviointeriors and will be fitted in a 2-2-2 abreast configuration.
The airline’s chairman, Sir Michael Bishop, announced the plans during a trip to Saudi Arabia.
“We are proud and delighted to be the only British carrier serving Saudi Arabia and are confident that our investment in the introduction of lie-flat seats will create further demand and growth on these routes,” he said.
“We will also be reintroducing the A330 onto our Riyadh and Jeddah routes from next Spring.”
