Boeing bemoans US-China tensions as Airbus secures big China deal
Boeing is blaming geopolitical issues for its struggles in China, following a huge order placed by Chinese airlines for nearly 300 Airbus jets.
In a subtle dig at the US administration, it believes US-China tensions are costing the plane maker business.
Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines agreed to buy292 A320neo family aircraft.
“It is an example of how constructive dialogue between governments encourages job creation and the other benefits that result from open aerospace markets,” Boeing said.
It is disappointing that geopolitical differences continue to constrain US aircraft exports. We continue to urge a productive dialogue between the governments given the mutual economic benefits.”
Airbus delivered 150 aircraft to China airline customers last year.
In contrast Boeing delivered just three.
Boeing says it is capable of delivering $10 billion worth of aircraft orders to Chinese airlines.
Meanwhile, Chinese state media said it is normal for the US to ‘feel sour’ when things don’t go their way.
