Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes CEO fired
Boeing’s Max crisis has claimed its first high profile victim within the company.
CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Kevin McAllister has been ousted.
He has been replaced by company veteran Stan Deal who was responsible for Boeing Global Services and a member of Boeing’s executive council.
In turn, Deal’s BGS position is being taken by Ted Colbert.
McAllister was praised by Boeing for his ‘dedicated and tireless service’ but gave no official reason for the change.
"Our entire Boeing team is focused on operational excellence, and we’re committed to delivering on our commitments," said Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg.
McAllister’s tenure had been fraught with other recent problems other than the Max crisis.
These include damaging production delays to the Boeing 777X because of issues with new engines and structural cracks found on older Boeing 737s.
Boeing also gave an update on the latest Max developments, revealing more than 400 airline customers and regulators have so far participated in simulator sessions for the new MCAS software update.
"The company is making steady progress on the second software update announced in June for additional flight control computer redundancy,” it said.
