Bomb explodes on Turkish Airlines plane

Sunday, 30 Jun, 2004 0

A bomb exploded on a Turkish Airlines plane in Istanbul yesterday, as the world’s leaders attended a Nato summit in the city.

According to the Sky News website, the explosion took place on a small plane that had just arrived at Ataturk airport from the city of Izmir; all the passengers had already been disembarked when the bomb went off.

The website quotes Turkish Airlines as saying that the plane was being cleaned at the time of the explosion, and that a worker lost several fingers.

Sky states that there was no visible damage to the outside of the plane, and that Turkish authorities are now investigating the incident.
