Brazil hails international tourism revenue record in 2024

Brazil tourism enjoyed a banner year in 2024, with international tourism revenue reaching record levels.
The Central Bank announced that foreign travelers spent a record US$ 7.3 billion in Brazilian destinations.
That is 6% up on the previous record last year.
President of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, hailed the result: “Our strategy to attract international tourists is paying off, the Lula government is transforming into reality all the potential that Brazil has always had.”
“More tourists are arriving and with a higher consumption profile, which is reflected in this record result, much higher than expected”, he said.
He also highlighted that the positive data should continue this year. “We have already started 2025 with indicators that point to even more growth and new records.”
2024 also recorded the best December in history, surpassing 2023:
In December 2024 alone, international tourists injected US$ 721 million into the country’s economy, an increase of 17% compared to the previous month.
The National Tourism Plan, approved last year, has set a goal of US$ 8.1 billion in international traveler spend by 2027.
The data released by the Central Bank confirms the best result in the history of international tourism in Brazil.
In addition to the highest revenue, the country also recorded a record number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2024, with 6,657,377.
