Brazil’s GOL Airlines first to resume flying Boeing Max
Brazil based GOL Airlines will resume Boeing 737 Max flights this week, becoming the world’s first airline to redtart coomercial Max services.
The airline said it will recommence Max flights from 9 December.
The first flight will be from Sao Paulo and Guarulhos, and it hopes to return all seven of its 737 Max 8 jets to service before the end of the year.
"The Max is one of the most efficient aircraft in aviation history and the only one to undergo a complete recertification process, ensuring the highest levels of safety and reliability," said GOL CEO Paulo Kakinoff said.
"We are grateful to the authorities who took part in the validation stages, especially ANAC, which played a leading role in the certification, alongside other international regulators. We reiterate our trust in Boeing, our exclusive partner since GOL’s inception in 2001."
The airline currently operates seven Max jets and has an order for an additional 95 which are scheduled for delivery over the next several years.
Brazil became the second country to re-certify the Max, a few days after the US.
American Airlines is expected to be the first US carrier to restart Max operations in late December.
