British Arways blamed a ‘slight technical hitch’ after a private party was left stranded in mid-air on board Brighton’s latest tourist attraction, the i360 tower.
The attraction, which opened last month, lifts guests 450ft into the air to get a 360-degree view of the Brighton coastline.
But the party of around 200 were left stranded for more than two hours yesterday evening after it broke down.
One passenger said the attraction juddered to a halt and said it was apparently the first time 200 people had been on board and ‘not stood where they thought’.
Of course, the whole incident was captured on social media, especially when staff found a rather unglamorous camping toilet to deal with the consequences.
