British teen in serious condition after paraglider collision
A young British girl is in a serious condition in a Turkish hospital after a freak accident.
Lily Nichol, 15, from County Durham was eating a meal outdoors with her family when a pataglider collided with her.
She is in hospital and requires surgery to her back and face.
It happened on the family’s final day in the resort town of Oludeniz.
Her mother Lyndsey Logan told the BBC medical expenses could be as high as £45,000.
She said they didn’t take out travel insurance.
Her daughter suffered multiple spinal breaks, a broken jaw, and an eye injury.
The paraglider ‘came from nowhere’, she said.
“Next thing we knew my daughter was unconscious on the floor.”
“I was just screaming, crying for help. I thought she was dead.”
The family has set up an online appeal to raise funds for the medical treatment.
As of early Monday, it has raised over £20,000.
